Voice is style blended with my personality, vocabulary, syntax, tone, and unique life experiences. So, when my professor says “develop your voice,” what I hear is “become yourself.”

Someone in my neighborhood gave a whistle to a child and sent them outside to play. Desperate to find relief and a few quiet hours to write, I packed my tent and headed to the mountains.
“Out of sight, out of mind,” the saying goes. Except, this particular spider was out of sight and therefore the only thing on my mind.

“The mad cow has sustained an injury.” Neither owning a cow nor being closely acquainted with anyone else’s cow, I’m not sure how much I’m supposed to care about this news.
